SPINDOWN

'This is a riveting story. It is well written and had multiple facets of philosophy thrown in. How would you describe freedom to someone who has no concept of family, state, or of even basic relationships?'

—Carol Brannigan

'This story had me up a few late nights wanting to know what would happen next.'

—Reader, Goodreads.com

'I think the best thing about the book is its humanity. Although most of it is set in an inhuman, inhospitable environment, dark and cold and surrounded by rock and metal, with the characters chased by robotic killing machines, I think that setting perfectly balances the story of this small group of people trying their best to survive and learning to care for one another. I really enjoyed it, and I recommend it highly.'

—The Skyling

'An excellent read. I'll look for this author again. I give it 4 stars!'

'(The way) Padgett writes the characters and the scenes, really puts you in the thick of the action.'

—Early Reader, LibraryThing.com

'Reminiscent of classics from authors such as Clarke, Heinlein, and Asimov, Spindown is hard science fiction at its best. Padgett’s debut narrative is visual, visceral, and atmospheric in all the right places. Fantastic!'

—Jason Kristopher, author of The Dying of the Light Series

'A great Science Fiction adventure.'

—Carmen Maranda

'This story is easy to read, and once you get started, you won't want to put it down.'

—Sandra T.

'I just finished Spindown and absolutely loved it! It was my Labor Day Holiday reading and I couldn't put it down.

It moved very quickly, yet was intricate and covered a lot of territory in a really plausible way! I think it was a statement about the nature of work and what sometimes happens if we step outside our accepted roles. I found myself highlighting passages about a place that's not so great to work.

I'm looking forward the author's next book!'

—Richard Gibbs

'What makes us human? That is the question that Spindown by George Wright Padgett tries to answer. This is a science fiction story that takes place in a future where cloned workers that are overseen by a computer learn what it means to be human after being exposed to real people and seeing what happens when the computer decides that they are contaminated. As the story unfolds we learn the possible costs of freedom and questioning the status quo.'

—Sully

'I thoroughly enjoyed reading this entertaining and thought-provoking book. The story is creative, and Padgett's crystal clear writing style draws you into the world he has created. I look forward to reading more of his work in the future.'

—MC Kovacik

'I cannot believe that this is George Wright Padgett's debut novel. He is a great story-teller with a vivid, fascinating, imagination. I couldn't put it down. I kept wanting more and more after every chapter. This was a spell-binding journey. I can't wait for a sequel - hint, hint!! I can visualize this story on the big screen. It was full of action and emotion and was thought-provoking. I predict that the world will be hearing a lot more from this author. He is very talented and I can't wait to read more works - please! I liked it so much I bought 3 hard copies for my son and 2 of his friends.'

'I have never been known as a sci-fi enthusiast. However, I picked up Spindown to read. Before I knew it, I was 100 pages into the book and couldn't put it down. I found myself cheering for the clones as they made their journey from mindlessness to awareness.

I could not wait to see how the beginning chapters tied to the story line. The ending leaves me waiting for the sequel. Many days to the author, George Padgett!'

—Norman Sanders

'I am an extensive reader of Sci Fi, from Verne to E. R. Burroughs and everything in between. "Spindown" by George Padgett combines the best of all the elements. I felt myself drawn in without even noticing it. A great tale of, well everything. I would be thrilled to be striding down the virtual bookshelves of Amazon and come across another book by Mr. Padgett for I would purchase it in a heartbeat. Great work Mr. Padgett!'

—Mark Gott

'This book was an absolute page turner. I haven't read a book this enthusiastically since Ender's Game. If you enjoy Sci-Fi this book is for you. Mr. Wright brings this story to life with a thrilling plot and radical antagonists. Truly a great read. Definitely a must buy for the avid reader.'

—Arron Daniels

'George Wright Padgett's debut, Spindown, is a riveting look at what it means to truly be human. The story centers around Fowler, a drone worker whose every move is controlled by a company. As the story progresses, Fowler goes from merely accepting the status quo to becoming a true hero and learning to think for himself.'

—S. Hadwin

'I recommend it as a riveting read.'

—Stephanie Dayo

'Padgett weaves a self-contained universe for the characters that’s very imaginative and easy to see in your mind’s eye.'

—Gordon Barker

'Sci-Fi is not my genre of choice but I was interested in reading this book just from the back cover...and I am so glad that I did. The details and descriptions of the clones, the atmosphere, the machinery, etc. we're so vivid that I could imagine all of it with clarity. When I wasn't reading, I was wondering where the next pages or chapters would take me with Fowler and Sholve. I would recommend this to readers of all genres. Great story, Mr. Padgett!'

—Alicia Waters
